The Drawing Room, a Very Chic Hair Salon

Fancy having your hair done in a gorgeous listed Georgian house by a celebrity hairdresser who’s tended to the likes of Cara Delevingne, Florence Welch or George Michael, while sipping a beautifully executed espresso Martini (or cappuccino for the more reasonable amongst you), in an intimate atmosphere that feels much more like a friend’s house than a hairdresser? Then, you’ll love newly opened -and very different- salon The Drawing Room, between the City and Shoreditch. Chic-Londres tried it and loved it.

Who The Drawing Room is the brainchild of Oskar Pera, a young -but highly experienced- Spanish hairdresser who has styled for Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Chloé, as well as for Vogue and GQ on models and artists including Florence Welch, Cara Delevingne, George Michael, Trudie Styler and Kate Nash. But despite this impressive pedigree, there’s no display of inflated ego, as often seen on many “celebrity hairdressers”. Instead Oskar is friendly and approachable, and eager to put you at ease.

Where The Drawing room is housed in a historical Georgian building at 41 Artillery Lane, a street built around 1750. Listed for its architectural interest as a “remarkably complete survival of the interior of this type of house”, the salon retains many of its original features, such as the painted panelling, fire surrounds and cornices. The hairdressers work stations are made of antique furniture and baroque mirrors, while some contemporary fixtures give a trendy, fun edge to the otherwise very elegant surroundings.

What While the salon is not cheap, it’s definitely much more affordable than other exclusive hairdressers, especially given its high standards, with a lady’s cut and finish starting at £49, and extra time allowed for the client to discuss his or her requirements. There’s also plenty of little perks and nice touches, such as the extensive -and very nice- complementary drinks menu, with proper Martinis and Nespresso coffees, as well as mobile phone charging and emergency umbrellas.

Last but not least, The Drawing room offers 30% off for Chic-Londres readers on their first visit (just mention “Chic-Londres” when booking) www.drawingroomsalon.com
