White Mischief’s The Births, Marriages and Deaths Ball The flamboyant party organising White Mischief is back with a theme dedicated to corpse brides and jilted Miss Havishams, morning suits and mourning suits, spooky Victorian nannies and deadpan undertakers. Every corner of former art deco cinema Scala will be taken over with morbid theming and characters from beyond the grave, with highly theatrical acts such as the Incredible Voltini, who will conduct 17,000 volts of visible electricity through his body, or Legs Akimbo, with their twisted rock’n’roll take on Pentecostal exorcisms and baptisms. DJs will be playing electro-swing, vintage soul, jazz and funk, and there will be some face painters and a costume workshop for those in need of help. Dress code: Not compulsory but encouraged. Lovebrunch’s Terror at Aynhoe Park For those happy to leave London behind for a night, the people behind trendy West london pop up party Lovebrunch are taking over Aynhoe Park, an Oxfordshire stately home famous for its collection of curiosities and limited edition taxidermy. This rather extraordinary venue is deemed to be transformed into a decadent house of horrors, with a selection of (trick or) treats served throughout the night from London’s leading food trucks. Winterwell’s Voodoo and Black Magic This Halloween party, organised by the people behind boutique festival Winterfell Festival, has become a bit of a staple for the Notting Hill-y party crowd. Located at the Loft Studios, a favourite for fashion shoots which conveniently looks over Kensal Green cemetery, it has two floors of music by Norman Jay and The Correspondents and offers some reliable, good fun.
